The Zubair family founded the Bait Al Zubair as a cultural foundation and museum in 1998. The Foundation’s goal is to encourage projects related to Omani culture and history and the arts. One segment of the museum is the Bait Al Oud. Bait Al Oud is a three-storied building modeled after Sheikh Ali bin Juma’s former residence. The first floor exhibits typical Muscati furniture and early European drawn maps of the Arabian peninsula. On the second floor, one can view early pictures of Muscat and historical cameras.
