Bass Museum: Pascale Marthine Tayou

The Bass Museum is an art museum located in Miami Beach, Florida. It opened in 1964 following John and Johanna Bass’s private art collection to the City of Miami Beach. The museum’s exhibits focus on international contemporary art that reflects the character of Miami Beach. The bass Museum also seeks to expand contemporary art interpretation by exhibiting contemporary cultures, like design, fashion, and architecture. Pascale Marthine Tayou is a Cameroon/Belgian artist who’s exhibition Beautiful is currently being shown at the Bass Museum. Tayou is accomplished in multiple mediums, which Beautiful showcases. Some of his pieces displayed include stacked Arabic pots, Colonnes Pascale, and Fresque de Craies which is created with hundreds of chalk pieces under West African colon tourist figures, gold foil, and plastic eggs.
