Boston Marathon – Bombing Attack

On April 15, 2013, two pressure-cooker bombs exploded at the Boston Marathon’s finish line, killing three people and injuring over 264. Chechen brothers Tamerlan Tsarnaev and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev conducted this terrorist attack. Both brothers fled from the scene, sparking a days-long manhunt that culminated in Dzhokahar’s arrest. (Tamerlan was shot and later died in the hospital.) On Januray 5, 2015, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev on trial for his role in the Boston Bombings. The jury sentenced Tsarnaev to death, though an appeals court overturned the sentence in 2015.
