George Fredric Handel (1685-1759) was a baroque composer who lived in London, England. Handel was primarily known for his operas and organ concertos. Handel’s most famous piece being the “Hallelujah Chorus,” which churches frequently play during Christmas. Similar to Handel, Jimi Hendrix was also a famous musician. Hendrix lived between 1942 and 1970, and he is known for his skill at playing the electric guitar. Some of his famous songs include “Voodoo Child,” “Little Wing,” and “Machine Gun.”The Handel and Hendrix House in London is a museum located in the Handel House in London, England. It was originally founded in 2001 as the Handel House, and it only memorialized the classical composer. However, the music legend Jimi Hendrix lived near Handel’s former home. So, in 2016, Hendrix’s old apartment was restored and put on display, creating the Handel and Hendrix museum. Like Handel’s townhouse, Hendrix’s apartment was carefully restored to ensure it is an accurate representation of what Hendrix would have looked like during his time living there. Besides offering visitors a tour of these two famous musicians’ homes, the Handel Hendrix Museum in London also displays art, manuscripts, and other material related to the world-famous composer Handel.
