Pascale Marthine Tayou

Pascale Marthine Tayou was born in Cameroon in 1966. Tayou’s Beautiful was presented at The Bass Museum of Art museum from October 29, 2017 to April 02, 2018. His exhibit at The Bass was made to create an organic and collaboratively formed presentation of the work he made in the last decade. Throughout Beautiful, visitors go between Tayou’s former collections Colonnes Pascale (2012) and Fresque de Craies (2015) alongside some of the museum’s founding collections. This intervention between Tayou’s and the current museum was to create a conversation on his transcultural practice and surroundings growing up. Furthering his concept, Tayou’s concern for “decolonization of histories and territories aligns with the nature” of Miami Beach where the museum is located.
