The idea of Pretend City originated in 1999 when Orange County locals Sandy Stone and Alex Airth began thinking about the possibility of opening a “local, innovative, world-class” children’s museum. The idea took off once a Board of Directors soon came together to plan out the museum. The Orange County community celebrated the grand opening of Pretend City Children’s Museum in August 2009. Pretend City is a child-size city built to connect educational intentions with fun opportunities. The museum offers children to take on real-world roles and expand their creativity. Pretend City even offers interactive, educational play for children on the autism spectrum.
