The Shoes Or No Shoes Museum is a shoe museum located in Kruishoutem, Belgium that showcases various shoe collections. Shoes Or No Shoes contains the largest ethnographic show collection in the world. The museum is housed in a building that was built in 1973 by Christiaan Vander Plaetse for artist Emile Veranneman. Years later, the modern building was bought by Dirk Vanderschueren. Vanderschueren, owner of Cortina, one of the world’s largest shoe manufacturers. Due to his passion for shoes, the owner of Cortina decided to open a museum that would offer guests a “shoe experience.” Three large collections of shoes confront each other as visitors go through the museum and involve their understanding.
