The Solway Aviation Museum was established in 1961 at Carlisle Airport in Cumbria, North West England. Solway Aviation Museum houses a collection of aircraft, and aviation artifacts. The collection of the museum illustrates Britain’s position as a world leader in aircraft design and innovation during the Jet Age. The museum’s collection focuses on post war British jets that were in service with the Royal Air Force during the 1950s and 60s. The staff volunteers at the Solway Aviation Museum have previously worked in the aviation industry or past service personnel whose mission is to preserve Cumbria’s aviation history.
