Opened in 2000, the Tang Museum generates a communal conversation on the richness and diversity of the human experience through the medium of art. The museum is named after Frances Young Tang, a 1961 graduate of Skidmore who majored in textile design Later in life, Tang ran a company that successfully restored historical buildings in New York City. The museum showcases contemporary work from students and faculty. It is a significant aspect of the interdisciplinary undergraduate liberl arts education at Skidmore College. Alongside its galleries, there are collection storage rooms and teaching spaces. The Tang Museum highlights all types of media and art intersections between visual and performing arts, natural sciences, and the humanities.
