In the Ninh Binh province of Vietnam, the Bai Dinh Pagoda complex is Vietnam’s largest buddhist worshipping complex, which is popular for buddhist pilgrimages. One of the most fascinating features of the Bai Dinh Pagoda complex is the Arhat corridors, the longest Arhat corridor in Asia. In Buddhism, Arhat is a perfected person, who has gained insight and achieved nirvana. These corridors total a length of 1.8 km that run along both sides from Phap Chu Temple down to Tam Quan Noi. Each corridor houses 250 Arhat statues made of monolithic stone that come from artisans of the Ninh Van stone cutting village.
