The Wounded Warrior Dogs Project is a traveling exhibition of wooden dog structures created by James Mellick, an Ohio craftsman, in 2015. Symbolically, the dogs represent sacrifice and exhibit the same wounds that humans get in battle. The exhibition is meant to bring awareness and attention on the sacrifice and needs of wounded veterans. The money that was made at the exhibits were handed to numerous veteran organizations that serve wounded warriors. The Wounded Warrior Dog Project illustrates six dogs that represent service in various wars and the seventh depicts the ultimate sacrifice.
