Zurab Tseretelli is a Georgian sculptor, painter, and architect that is known for his controversial and monumental art. Between 1998 and 2000, Tseretelli reconstructed the Dolgorukovs’ House and opened his own art gallery, located in Moscow, Russia. The exhibition complex is a part of a program elaborated by Tseretelli to transform the Russian Academy of Arts to return it to its former position in society from the 18th and 19th centuries. The Tseretelli Gallery ranges in mediums and themes which include statues, sculptures, and images. Highlights of the gallery are the statues of well-known figures from Russian politics, Russian culture, and various tsars such as Vladimir Putin and the last imperial family. One of the main features is a massive apple sculpture whose interior is decorated with erotic scenes.
